Overview

Copying an item in the item catalog is one way to create new items. Copying an item can be helpful when you need to create several new items with the same vendor information, for example.

When you copy an item in the item Catalog, Supply Chain does not create the item inventory record, however. You still need to assign the item to an asset location, either through Mass Item Assignment or from the item catalog menu Assign to Asset Location option.

Security

To copy an item:.

  1. From the main Contents, select Inventory > Item Catalog.
    The Item Catalog list appears.
  2. Locate the item that you want to copy.
  3. Next to the item, click Menu > Copy.
The Item Catalog edit panel is displayed. The page shows New instead of Edit to indicate that a new item is being created, and you are not simply editing the displayed information.
  1. Replace values in fields as needed for your new item.
  2. Click Submit.

Note: You can enter an item number in the Item No field, or leave the field blank. If you leave the field blank, when you click Submit, the system will generate the item number.

Important: To be activated, an item record must contain complete Item Vendor information, and the Primary Supplier of the item must be set. Until this
information is available in the item record, the system shows the Item Status as Incomplete, and will not let you change the Item Status to Active
.
